Guided ghazal writing
Level 4: Composition and Refinement · about 40 minutes
Choose a bahr, a radif and a qafia sound. Write the matla (both lines rhyme), then at least four shers, then a maqta with your takhallus. Each line is scanned as you write; each second line is checked for radif and qafia.
Studio: Write a ghazal
fā'ilātun / fa'ilātun mafā'ilun fa'ilun / fa'lun
The rhyme sound every sher will repeat.
A ghazal needs at least five shers. The matla rhymes in both lines; after that only the second line of each sher carries the qafia and radif. Your draft is saved in this browser.
