The mentor is Claude in the role of a patient ustad: it explains shers, discusses craft and style, and helps you improve your lines. It never decides metre itself. Every line you write out is first scanned by the course's metre engine, whose verdict the mentor must follow, and every rewrite it suggests is scanned again.
