1. Who we are
Urdu in Translation (www.urduintranslation.com) is a digital library of Urdu literature in translation, run by Asghar Bashir in Pakistan. You can contact us at contact@urduintranslation.com or through our contact page.
2. What we offer
- Reader account: the first two published chapters of each work are free to read with ads, with or without an account. Reader accounts do not include PDF downloads; individual PDF editions can be purchased separately.
- Member: ad-free access to every chapter and 3 included PDF downloads per UTC calendar month; US$10 a month or US$100 a year (in Pakistan, US$1 a month or US$10 a year).
- Patron: ad-free access to every chapter and 10 included PDF downloads per UTC calendar month, and the complete Beginning Urdu course while the membership lasts; US$25 a month or US$240 a year (in Pakistan, US$3 a month or US$30 a year). Patrons who joined at an earlier price keep that price while their membership continues. Members and Patrons can cancel at any time from their account page, and access continues to the end of the period paid for. See Membership.
- PDF editions: a downloadable PDF of a complete translation, sold separately at the price shown on the book's page.
- Beginning Urdu course: the course, its lessons, exercises and audio are for use online at this website only, by the person who has access. They may not be downloaded, recorded, copied, printed, shared or republished in any form. No downloadable version of the course is offered.
- Printed copies and Kindle e-books of some books are sold by Amazon on Amazon's terms; we only link to them.
3. Payment for memberships and PDF editions
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries about payment and handles returns. Prices are shown in US dollars; Paddle adds any sales tax or VAT due in your country at checkout. Once your payment goes through, the PDF can be downloaded straight away from the book's page and from your account page. A purchased edition may be downloaded again as often as you like; monthly membership downloads are limited to the plan allowance and reset on the first day of each UTC calendar month.
4. What you may do with what you buy or read
Everything on this site, including the translations, is protected by copyright. A PDF edition is licensed to you for your own personal reading: you may keep it on your devices and print it for yourself. You may not share, resell, upload or distribute it, or any substantial part of the site's text, to others. Short quotations for study, review or criticism, with acknowledgement, are welcome.
5. Refunds
See our refund policy.
6. Your account
Keep your password private; you are responsible for what is done through your account. We may close an account that is used to break these terms, for example by sharing paid content.
7. Translations
Our translations are made with the help of AI. Some have been reviewed or edited by us; others may be published before editorial review. They can contain errors. Corrections are welcome through the contact page.
8. Liability
The site is provided as it is. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the consumer law of your country. Otherwise, our liability for any purchase is limited to the amount you paid for it.
9. Changes and law
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version, and purchases are governed by the terms in force when they were made. These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, and the courts at Lahore have jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer rights you have where you live.
