Commentaire (sharh)

Mir's pathos (soz-o-gudaz) in a few plain words. The smoke is the burning of the lover's inner self, but the poet asks as if he did not know (tajahul-e-arifana). Short metre (chhoTii bahr) and everyday words are Mir's signature.
