• اس فتنہ خو کے در سے اب اٹھتے نہیں اسدAsad, we will not rise now from the door of that troublemaker,
• واں اس کو ہولِ دل ہے تو یاں میں ہوں شرمسارThere she is seized with dread of heart, and here I am ashamed:
• دی سادگی سے جان پڑوں کوہکن کے پاؤںIn his simplicity the mountain-digger gave his life; I fall at his feet.
• غالب مرے کلام میں کیوں کر مزہ نہ ہوGhalib, how could my verse not have flavour?
• واں پہنچ کر جو غش آتا پئے ہم ہے ہم کوWhen I reach there and faint for my own sake,
• لیے جاتی ہے کہیں ایک توقّع غالبGhalib, a single hope is leading me somewhere:
