• یوں ہی دکھ کسی کو دینا نہیں خوب ورنہ کہتاIt is not good to cause anyone pain for nothing, or else I would say:
• ظلمت کدے میں میرے شبِ غم کا جوش ہےIn my house of darkness the night of grief is surging:
• آتے ہیں غیب سے یہ مضامیں خیال میںThese themes come into my thought from the Unseen:
• آ، کہ مری جان کو قرار نہیں ہےCome, for my soul has no rest:
• تو نے قسم مے کشی کی کھائی ہے غالبGhalib, you have sworn to give up wine:
• ہجومِ غم سے یاں تک سر نگونی مجھ کو حاصل ہےFrom the crowd of grief my head is bent so low
