• رہیے اب ایسی جگہ چل کر جہاں کوئی نہ ہوLet us go and live somewhere where there is no one,
• پڑیے گر بیمار تو کوئی نہ ہو بیمار دارIf one falls ill, let there be no one to nurse one;
• مسجد کے زیرِ سایہ خرابات چاہیےThere should be a tavern in the mosque's shadow,
• نشو و نما ہے اصل سے غالبؔ فروع کوGhalib, the branches draw their growth from the root;
• غمِ دنیا سے گر پائی بھی فرصت سر اٹھانے کیEven if I found leisure from the world's grief to raise my head,
• کہوں کیا خوبیِ اوضاعِ ابنائے زماں غالبؔWhat shall I say of the fine manners of the sons of the age, Ghalib?
