There is danger that the thread of love may become the jugular vein:the pride of friendship is a calamity; may you not become an enemy.

• جب بہ تقریبِ سفر یار نے محمل باندھاWhen the beloved packed the litter for a journey,
• نہ بندھے تِشنگیٔ ذوق کے مضموں، غالبGhalib, the themes of thirsty longing could not be captured,
• یک ذرۂ زمیں نہیں بے کار باغ کاNo speck of earth in the garden is useless:
• باغِ شگفتہ تیرا بساطِ نشاطِ دلYour blossoming garden is a carpet for the heart's delight;
• وہ میری چینِ جبیں سے غمِ پنہاں سمجھاShe read my hidden grief in the furrows of my brow,
• دل دیا جان کے کیوں اس کو وفادار، اسدAsad, why did you give her your heart, thinking her faithful?
